No matter your belief or reason for celebrating Christmas, I hope yours is Merry and Bright. One of my favorite Christmas memories is from 1956. I got a record player, 12×12, red and just barely audible sound, that came with a red Gene Autry-Frosty the snowman and “Alvin and the Chipmunks” – Christmas Don’t be Late. I drove my folks nuts playing them over and over. And singing along til I knew the words by heart. That was my “Big gift”. Then there were socks, some homesewn shirts and a new pair of Tuff Nutt Jeans along with the 3 bladed pocket knife. Good memory. Make your own memories this year.

Not gonna ramble, got a lotta parties and celebrations to mention for this weekend, 20 th and 21st and all the dances I know about for New Year’s Eve. Live Music this week: An early Christmas concert will be at the Lowrey Hotel/Museum among the Christmas tree forest on Tuesday 17th. “The Al Grzech Trio ft. Nikki Waters” will be singing and playing Christmas favorites for your entertainment. This concert is free to the public and hosted by Donna and David Deaton and crew. Light snacks and drinks provided. But the real gift is the awesome music. It’s a family friendly event so enjoy the photo op or video of your group. See ya there. It kicks off at 6:30 and there are carols til 8:30.

“Rhythm Coalition’s” Christmas Bash at Ava’s/Fianna Hills will be on Sat 21st from 8pm til midnite. Join in this party!

“Wildhorse” will be at the Sallisaw VFW for The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party on Sat. 21st. These parties are always a hoot. And the music will be great for dancin’. Country Carols will be heard starting at 9pm.

“The Libby Starkes Band” will be up the road at the Crazy Horse Saloon/Prairie Grove. Not too far if ya wanna dance and listen to the best Country Show band around. Saturday 21st at 9 pm.

“The MidWestern Playboys” will be at the Cherokee Casino/Roland on Friday 20th. Showtime is 9pm. Then on Sat. 21st at Los Roosters/ Bonnerdale Ark. Down in the beautiful Mt’s, SW of Hot Springs. It will be worth the ride. Music starts at 7pm. Just a note or two- “Hillbilly Vegas” successfully completed a two week tour of England and Scotland. Highlights later. Their single Let It Ride is still climbing the charts.- Clat Grant has a couple of singles, Double Life and No Expression. Clays says “Y’all keep blowing them up”. I think that’s a good thing!- “P.A. Riggs and 180 Proof” has a couple of open nights in Dec. and are booking 2025.- Dustin Boyd signed a 6 song contract with Rudd Records. Mo’ info later. NYE PARTIES- Spiro Eagles, “The Stagemasters” on Tuesday, 31st at 8 pm. Ava’s/Fianna Hills, Sierra Bravo on 31st. Tuesday, Dec. 31st “The Tribadours” play for the last Taco Tuesday of 2024 at Joe’s Cantina. Music starts at 6pm. “Live Wire” will ring in the New Year at Doug’s Watering Hole/Poteau on Tuesday 31st from 9pm 2024 til 1am 2025. Lots more NYE info next week.
