Support Live Music and Local Bands
Well, It’s great to have so much Live Music to share. It is a shame tho! That doesn’t leave me much room to go on and on bout my ole stories or just plain talkin’ bout my favorite subject, Me! Stay tuned. Maybe next week, I can spin a couple of tall tails, I mean tales.
Just saw where the Dewey District(Downtown Poteau) will open the newly refurbished- The Two-Twenty Event Park soon. Formally known at “The Pocket Park” , this outside venue will be available to the public to rent. Complete with Stage, great seating, concession stand and RR. It is now gated for easier security on adult only nites and a safer containment for kids on Family Friendly events. Tis’ the season, bring on the Live music. More info soon. Upcomin’ events- I love it when the weather cooperates and the outside events that are planned goes off without a hitch. One of my favorites, “The Wright Family Gospel Singing” will be Sat. 26th. It’s a front porch , bring your lawn chair kinda show. Joining Kyler, Rochelle and Robert this time will be “The Alversons”. It starts at 6:30. Mark it on your bank calendar.
“The Sidekicks Band” will be on the Patio of La Heurtas/Poteau on Friday 25th. Monroe Old Timers Day is May 3rd. The Steel Horse Rally is Sat. May 3rd. Ft. Smith has more than just a few thousand motorcycles in for the annual event, there’s Live Music all over town. On fb, check out Milissa Woodall’s Live Music Lineup- Eye on Ft. Smith for a complete schedule of bands and venues. Great article. And my very favorite- Crocky’s Crawdad Boil is May 31st. “The Richard Rouch Band” will be on stage. Lots mo’ info on outside events comin’ atcha soon.
Live Music this week: “The Stagemasters” seem to conveniently play as close to good vittles as possible. Friday 18th, they will be singing
and playing at Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak, OK. Awesome grub and a big dancefloor to two-step after supper. Music starts at 6:30 pm. Next, Sat. 19th, they have a show at The Mighty Crab on Rogers Ave, Ft. Smith. Dancing starts at 6pm. Two chances to catch one of the best Country bands around. “The Tribadours” will be at El Toro Mexican Restaurant on Friday 18th. It’s just off of the Jenny Lind exit of I-240. LaDonna, Larry and Hillbilly Thunder(Dennis Dooley) on bass. Great singing and playing with an eclectic song selection. You will love’em. “Bourbon Rain” Takes the stage at Red’s Place/Alma, Ark. on Sat. 19th. This band has talent, personality and jus’ good ole country music charm. Catch the show at 8pm.
Muldrow City Limits is on a good roll for their Sat. nite dances. Crowds of 100+ and still seats to spare, MCL seems to be where all the cool kids play. Sat. 19th, Wesley Trout, a veteran of years playing in Branson and on the road, fronts the band- “Wes is More”. He draws from a stable of the best musicians around. It is always an interesting group and they always play the right songs. So grab some your friends and hightail it over to MCL and join in on the fun. Music starts at 7 pm.
And on Monday 21st, The Big Bear’s Open Mic Show will have more singers and pickers than you can shake a stick at. Big Bear(Jimmy Huff) has been spotted in the Poteau area often. He is an awesome M.C. and entertainer that knows about every musician in our area. When he kicks off the show, it looks like the Grand Ole Opry. The Open Mic is just an invite to bring a couple of songs to share. Always a good time. It takes place at Willie’s Wagon Wheel- 5300 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR. First song will be at 6 pm sharp. Be There!
That ain’t all that I got to say but I have been told to wrap it up. Thanks for supporting local bands, keep it up! Contact me by text 918-649-5736, on my fb page or tj.wiles61@outlook.com.
