He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar H., Sr. and Nora Pharis; and one grandson, Dustin.
Oscar was a longtime resident of the area and a dedicated diesel mechanic at Wonder Bread. Oscar was not only a skilled professional but also a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished every moment spent with his family. His commitment to his loved ones was evident in the warmth he brought to every gathering. Oscar was actively involved in his community, serving as a member of the Poteau DAV and the American Legion – Poteau Chapter. His passion for country music was well-known; he enjoyed both singing and listening to his favorite songs. Oscar was a supporter of local events, including the Poteau Jamboree and the DAV Jamboree, where he connected with friends and fellow community members. Additionally, Oscar had a penchant for working on crossword puzzles, which was one of his favorite pastimes. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, a chapter of his life that he held close to his heart. Oscar will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
