Funeral services for Fred Franklin, 79, of Spiro, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Unite Church, 19040 Oakwood Street in Spiro, Oklahoma, with Pastor Brian Bowerman officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro, Oklahoma.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

Fred was born on May 16, 1947, in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, to Glessie Clayton Franklin and Jim Franklin. He passed away on July 10, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He married the love of his life, Judy Decker, on February 7, 1966, in Poteau, Oklahoma, and together they shared many wonderful years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ferral Franklin, John Franklin, Richard Franklin, Pat Franklin, Jimmy Franklin; sisters, Lois Gragg, Julie DeMato and Carolyn Embry.

Fred will be remembered for his strong faith, unwavering determination,and the courage to meet every challenge head-on. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and joy in nature and treasured every opportunity to spend time outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, camping, or simply enjoying God’s creation, Fred’s love of the outdoors reflected his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for life’s simple blessings. His steadfast spirit, resilience, and trust in God were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Whether in times of joy or hardship, Fred approached life with strength, perseverance, and unshakable faith, leaving a lasting impression his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Franklin, of the home; his daughter, Deborah Baldridge and husband, Kenneth; his granddaughter, Callie Alley; his sister, Shirley Powell; his brother, Luke Franklin; his adopted son, Sam Cox; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Danny DeMato, Colby DeMato, Luther Franklin, Tom Rogers, Michael Tippett, and Perry Paul Gallia. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Mahar and Ron Bangston,
