Russell is survived by:
One son: Michael Zurek of Poteau, Oklahoma
His grandchildren: Kathryn Nofire and Zachary of Cookson, Oklahoma
His great-grandchildren: Mila Gomez, Harley Nofire, and Conner Nofire
Numerous other relatives and a host of friends
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Kathryn Tenison.
Russell a beloved member of the community was a long-time resident known for his dedication and service. He worked as a Police Officer with the Poteau Police Department, before continuing his law enforcement journey with the Choctaw Lighthorse Police as a Security Guard until his retirement. Music was a passion for Russell, particularly playing the bass guitar, which brought him joy. An avid fisherman, he cherished the peaceful moments spent by the water. Above all, Russell valued the time he spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
