Funeral Service for Albert Eugene Thomas (Brother Gene), 89 of Pocola, Oklahoma will be at 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, Oklahoma with Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola, Oklahoma.
Gene was born on June 9, 1934 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Ruth Irene (McGee) Thomas and Albert Otto Thomas and passed away on August 21, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 55 years, Mary Katherine Thomas; brother, Jimmy Lee Thomas; sister, Eva Dodd. Gene was a Pastor for 50 years. Churches he Pastored; Maple Free Will Baptist Church, Sallisaw Free Will Baptist Church, Christian Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Red Oak Free Will Baptist Church, and Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his 4 children, Gary and wife Rhonda Thomas of Lowell, Arkansas, Larry Thomas of Pocola, Oklahoma, Danny and wife Robin Thomas of Pocola, Oklahoma, Teresa Beam of Greenwood, Arkansas; sister, Nancy Myrtle and husband J.H. Carter of Greenwood, Arkansas; brother, Gerald and wife Brinda Thomas of Greenwood, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Jon Paul Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Heather Grayson, Daniel Thomas, Austin Beam, and Travis Beam; 14 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives loved ones and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Thomas, Jon Paul Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Austin Beam, and Travis Beam.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Grayson, and Heather Grayson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola, Oklahoma.
