Funeral services for Dorotha Jane Ford, 88, of Poteau, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma. Pastor Chip Hinds, Pastor Phil McGehee, and Pastor Jim Cook will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
Dorotha was born on July 31, 1936, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Pearl (McDonald) and Nick Burkle. She passed away peacefully at her home on February 24, 2025, with her son, Paul, by her side holding her hand.
On December 19, 1953, Dorotha married the love of her life, Jerry Arlen Ford. Together, they built a successful construction and home-building business, making Poteau their lifelong home. Dorotha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry A. Ford; her parents, Nick Angelo Burkle and Pearl Burkle; and her adoptive parents, Papa and Mama McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her adoptive sisters, Peggy Vernon, Billie Gabriel, and Deloras Parks; her brothers, Jack Burkle and Wayne Burkle; and her honorary sisters, Anna Lois McDonald Jackson and Robbie Gaither.
Dorotha is survived by her son, Paul Ford of the home; daughters, Lisa Enriquez of Bixby and Deborah Dorey of Poteau; grandchildren, Adam, Nick, Daniel, and Tanisha; several great-grandchildren; numerous friends and caregivers; and her beloved little dog, Missy, who never left her side.
Pallbearers will be Nick Foster, Adam Enriquez, Trevor Thompson, Evan Caudell, Jeff Jackson, and Daniel Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Loggains and Bill Thompson.
