Esther Lee Griffith Burrough was born November 16, 1924 in Fort Coffee/Spiro, Oklahoma to her proud parents Lace David Griffith and Magnolia (Shoate) Griffith.  Esther was the middle of eight girls and three brothers.  She accepted Christ at an early age, attending Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and later in life she became a member of Macedonia Church of God in Christ.  At Macedonia, she was a member of the Usher Board and the Church Choir.

Esther attended Booker T. Washington School, District 82 in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma.

Esther married at an early age.  She had two sons— James Melvin Blocker and Mearilon Odell McKesson both preceded her in death.

Esther was an entrepreneur; she owned and operated The Seven Sisters Café.  She also ran a bait shop on Lock and Dam Road.  She later worked at Whirlpool Corp retiring after 20 years of service.  After retirement she enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Later in life, Esther met and married the love of her life, Garcia Burrough.  They enjoyed a very happy life, fishing and gardening until his death.

Esther loved life and lived it to the fullest.  She loved her family, was a good mentor and provider. 

She was a good daughter, mother and sister.  She had a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed every minute she spent with them.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents Lace David Griffith and mother, Magnolia Griffith.  Her two sons, James Blocker and Mearilon Odell McKesson.  She was preceded by three Brothers, Otis Griffith, Richard Griffith and Ernest Steele and seven sisters, Legaria Bunch, Viola Eubanks, Lula McCurtain, Emma Chambers, Thelma Green, Dorothy Morgan, and Fluerador Brown

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter in-law, Evora McKesson, four grandchildren, Mearilon McKesson Jr., Exodus McKesson, Meloni (Eric Avanya) McKesson, and Kenaz (Vickie) Jones, ten great grandchildren, MeOchea Pittman McKesson, Jamachia McKesson, Abena Sey, Taja McKesson,  Anthony McKesson, Kwame McKesson Sey, LorZorya McKesson, LorTandra McKesson, Christiana McKesson, ZaYaaNia Magnolia McKesson, and one great-great grandson, Malachi James Jones  her sister and brother in-law,  a special nephew/niece Bill and Joyce Eubanks and special nieces Maggie Lee, Gloria McKinney, and Myrtle Phillips and her dear friend Linda Boyd.  She also leaves her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Esther will be deeply missed by those she loved and those who loved her. 

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday April 4, 2020 at Fort Coffee Cemetery in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Friday April 3, 2020 from 9am – 7pm.
