Harold Eugene Thompson, 89, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Poteau, Oklahoma. Harold was born on October 6, 1936, in Stigler, Oklahoma to Andrew and Martha (Lillian) Thompson.
Harold pastored Jesus Name Assembly. He sold cars at Truman Pierce; he could sell you anything and make you think you needed it. He also worked at Bill Barber’s used furniture. Harold never met a stranger, some called him” Happy Harold.”
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Martha (Lillian) Thompson, his wife, Velva Thompson, his brothers, John Thompson, Bud Thompson, David Thompson and Roger Thompson, his sisters, infant Mary Kathern Thompson, Doris Schnider, Mildred (Darlene) Odell, Ruby Skelton, Louise Casey, Linda Ritter and his infant daughter, Kathryn Louise Thompson.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Martha (Angel) Killion and husband, Bud of Shady Point, Oklahoma, his stepdaughters, Loretta Blevins and husband Tommy, Carolyn Hartley, Vicky Davis, Lisa Barbee and husband Rick; his stepsons, Jimmy Taylor and Doug Taylor; his grandchildren, Douglas Ritter, John and Christina Ritter along with other relatives, loved ones and friends.
The Celebration of Life Services Harold Thompson will be at 2pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave. Poteau, Oklahoma with Luke Wethey and Harry Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Douglas Ritter, Bud Killion, Rick Jackson and Ray O’Dell. Honorary Pallbearer Doc Armstrong. Visitation with Family will be 5-7pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma.
