James Lee Vaughn, 52, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Poteau, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. James was born on March 26, 1973, in Ada, Oklahoma to parents Dickie Lee and Doris Phyllis (Chody) Vaughn. James was an avid OU Sooners fan, which led to the love he had following Baker Mayfield, which ultimately led to his love for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. James was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Phyllis Vaughn and his brother Michael Vaughn.
James is survived by his wife Kellie of the home, his children Karlee Vaughn of the home, Andrew Vaughn of the home, and Ethan Vaughn and significant other Andrah Sitton of Hartford, Arkansas, his sisters Rebecca Wise and husband Michael of Moore, Oklahoma and Beverly Bain of Wilburton, Oklahoma, his brothers David Adkisson and wife Toni of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Joel Adkisson and wife Candice of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Services for James will be held 2pm – Friday, March 6, 2026, at Mt. View Baptist Church on Glendale Road in Wister, Oklahoma with Pastor Tim Trent officiating and burial to follow at Mt. View/Glendale Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma. The Family of James Vaughn will greet friends from 5pm – 7pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Billy Joe Duncan, Chris Ward, Jeff Loomis, Rusty Baker, Ross Green, Cody Bain, Adrian Adkisson, and Justin Adkisson and Honorary Casket bearers will be Eldon Bain, Picher Adkisson, and Arthur Adkisson.
