John Joseph Malone, Jr. also known as “Wizzard” of Shady Point, Oklahoma was born on January 26, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to John Joseph, Jr. and Sharon Onida (Walton) Malone and passed away on May 28, 2026 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 74.

Numerous nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and a host of friends

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph, Jr. and Sharon Malone; and his best friend, John “Joker” Quakenbush.

 

John, a treasured member of our community and a was a longtime resident of the area. A retired Sergeant in the United States Army, he honorably served during the Vietnam era, embodying a deep sense of patriotism and love for his country. John cherished the legacy of his family’s service in the Army, a tradition that continued with his son joining the United States Army to serve his country. His pride in this shared commitment to duty and honor was immeasurable.

His passions included riding and working on motorcycles, along with an appreciation for all genres of music that resonated with his vibrant spirit. A cherished pastime was playing pool with his beloved nephew, John Rose, creating countless memories filled with laughter.

As an avid traveler, John embraced the beauty of new sights, eagerly sharing his adventures with family and friends. His love for his family was immeasurable, and the time spent with them was his greatest joy.

John will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and service remains in our hearts forever.

 

There will be an Irish Wake service in Michigan at a later date.

 

Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma.
