A Funeral service for Leona Pauline Kannady, 91, of Pocola, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Pocola Heights Church in Pocola Oklahoma. Officiating the service will be Mr. Gaylon Freeman. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Sunday December 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Evans and Miller Chapel in Pocola 

Leona was born on February 7, 1933 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Elsie Swink (Hardcastle) and William Adair Swink. She passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 in Pocola, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Leona was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her kind heart, unwavering strength, and infectious joy. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she took immense pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. Leona’s nurturing spirit and warm smile will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hilton Kannady, her parents, two brothers, a grandson, great grandaughter,  a great-great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter. Though she is no longer with us, the memories of her love and the lessons she imparted will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
Leona is survived by her three daughters Connie, Cecilia and Darlene; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, countless neices and nephews and numerous life long friends.
Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us every day. Leona’s spirit will live on in the lives of those who carry her memory, and we will honor her by continuing the legacy of love and kindness she created.
