Patsy Ruth Goines Obituary

Patsy Ruth Goines, 78, passed away on June 19, 2025, at her home in Pocola, Oklahoma. Patsy was born on May 29, 1947, in Plainview, Texas to parents William (Willie) Franklyn and Vida Lou (Billie) (Hayes) Downs. Patsy grew up and attended school in Panama, where she was very active in Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball. She was involved in Future Homemakers Association, Music (Glee Club), and 4H Club. She was voted 2nd Best Looking by her class, as well as class queen two times and also basketball queen. Patsy graduated from Panama High School on May 18, 1965. Patsy was a very hard worker for many years until ultimately settling at Rheem in Fort Smith, Arkansas before retiring on July 31, 2015.

Patsy’s biggest love was also her biggest accomplishment, and that was her family. From raising her two boys, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved having them all over for family get togethers, where at any time you could look in her fridge and always find an ice-cold Dr Pepper or ice cream in the freezer. She would welcome to her family to her home on New Years Day every year, to make sure they had fried hog jaw and black-eyed peas for good luck, even if you only had one pea. She loved to cook and could make a meal out of anything, she always knew her fried catfish and hush puppies brought everyone around her table. Of course, as outgoing as she was, she loved her companion “snuggles”, and to hunt, fish, work in her beautiful yard, and pond with all of her catfish. She always had the most beautiful rose bushes. Patsy loved to color and do word searches.
