Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Terri Sue Ross; and one brother, Larry Wayne Hodgins.
Sandra grew up in the rolling hills of Northeast Oklahoma riding horses thru the wild scrub oak and brushy tickets. She graduated from Wagoner high school then married and raised her family there calling Wagoner, home. She loved to travel having visited most of America. The Smokey Mountains were her favorite. She enjoyed the peaceful misty essence of the peaks and valleys after a cooling summer rain. She also liked to take trips locally in the fall thru the Ozarks and Ouachita, always commenting on the splendid splashing colors of leaves with their promise of life anew in the coming spring. From her quaint, well kept home she could name every type of song bird, watching them frolic for hours in the trees outside her window. We can be sure the bluebirds and orioles carried her to heaven. God was center in her life, attending Wagoner Church of Christ for many years and Summerfield Church of Christ most recently. She made sure her two boys and husband felt the hard backs of the pews as well. Any complaints by them were promptly met with; Christ hung on a wooden cross for you so you will spend a few minutes on this old oak bench, without complaining, for him. As she’s departed for her reward she still lingers in our hearts. She was a morning ray of sunshine, a clear mountain stream, a fresh prairie breeze, but most of all a best friend, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and a fine Christian woman. Sandra will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
A memorial graveside to honor Sandra’s life will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma. LeFlore County’s Only Onsite Crematory.
