Sylvia Marie Chronister, 81, of Heavener, Oklahoma was born to Willie and Dessie Summers on June 28, 1943 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma at the foot of Wild Horse Mountain. Sylvia passed away comfortably in Heavener, Oklahoma on January 10, 2025. She was a loving, nurturing person who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and caring for the elderly.

Sylvia began her career at Vista Nursing home in 1980, and later transitioned to Pocola Nursing home. She served the residents as a CNA, CMA, Social and Activity Services Director, Medical Records Clerk and Transport serving the residents with over 30 years of experience and dedication.

Sylvia loved to bowl and played in a bowling league for Vista Nursing Home. She also enjoyed to fish, mostly in the trees. She enjoyed bingo, dominoes, crosswords, solitaire, coffee, second hand shops, Ice Road Truckers TV show, and her cat Possum. Sylvia was known for her charismatic personality and fun loving nature. Sylvia will be genuinely missed by so many.

Her great-grandchildren: Kendra, Kyla, Harlea, Dustin, Hannah, Mary, Blade, Landen, Luke, Britton Davis Kaylee, Chevy, Brodix, Karlee, Peyton, Piper, Addie, Byer, Shaylee, Ayden, Kolbie, Cambry, Lyla Chronister. Jaycie, Finn, Khalil, and Baby Washington

Her sisters: Grace Gunter, Doris Johnson, Linda Summers

Her brother: Edward and Suzie Summers all of California

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Summers; her mother, Dessie Summers; her sister, Audrey Thornburg; her brothers William “Bud” Summers and Don Summers; and her daughter, Tonya Chronister.

A private family service will be held at a later time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
