Valerie Janet Peisley was born on December 16, 1937, in Spiro, Oklahoma, to Leta Lucille (Avery) Frye and Haskell Frye. She passed away on May 6, 2026, in Heavener, Oklahoma. She married William T. Peisley in 1957, and together with their two daughters, they spent many years as a Navy family. After living in Okinawa, Japan, Valerie and William chose to finish raising their daughters and eventually retired in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William T. Peisley; her brother, Jackie Haskell Frye; and her grandparents, Julia and Alex Avery. Julia was a member of the Choctaw Nation, a heritage Valerie was deeply proud to carry forward. Valerie held strong pride in her own Choctaw Nation heritage throughout her life.
Valerie was a devoted Navy wife and served for many years as Secretary of the Navy Wives Clubs. During the Vietnam War, she and other members lovingly packed coffee cans filled with cookies to send overseas to deployed servicemen. She was actively involved in her daughters’ school activities and cherished raising her family along the beaches of California. Valerie attended First Baptist Church in Shawnee for many years, where she was a faithful Sunday School member. She later retired from Dillard’s. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Valerie will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a woman of strong faith, a child of the Most High God, and a steady anchor for her family and community.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Peisley and Penny Lynn Peisley; grandchildren, Kayla Beth Loudermilk and husband Matthew, Kasey Lynn Swanner and husband Jeremy, Dustin Lumm and wife Jessica, and Ryan Lumm; great-grandchildren, Asher, Hayden, Cole, Landon, Carsin, Ben, Kayla, Kelly, and Kinsley; great great grandson, Ryder; her brother, Alex Frye; two nephews; and numerous other relatives, loved ones, and friends.
