RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s basketball players of the week for the fifth week of the season. Henderson State’s Natalie Cardenas won the Offensive Player of the Week award and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Landry Allen captured the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Natalie Cardenas, G, Henderson State, Jr., Mesquite, Texas
Cardenas topped the 20-point mark in both of the Reddies’ contests last week to raise her scoring average to 20.4 points per game. She scored 24 points against Arkansas Tech. Against No. 12 Harding, she scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Reddies won in Searcy for the first time since 2021.

#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Landry Allen, F, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Jr., Tuttle, Oklahoma
Allen averaged 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 2.5 steals in contests against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. She blocked four shots in a win against the Bison. She followed up with five blocks against the Crimson Storm. She ranks third in Division II in blocks per game, 3.75. She has four games this season with both multiple blocks and steals.
