It’s good to be back

OK! Let me say this before it starts to turn into whining. I have been blessed with many prayers, miracles and trials this year. I have enjoyed the hospitality of 3 regional medical campuses this year so far–Mercy, Hillcrest Tulsa and EOMC/Poteau. It’s been quite a journey! Thank God, I want for nothing and don’t owe nobody. By the way, EOMC/Poteau has the best food and care of the 3.

So it pains me to learn of another musician that suffers from the same problem that I have. Gary Hutchison-Entertainer,Showman and definitely in the top 5 guitar players in the W. Ark. and E. Okla. area. If you haven’t heard him play then you don’t get out much. He plays, teaches and just oozes awesome music.

He has just started suffering for a month and a half now. But when all you do is Music, this kinda problem can deplete the financial income and leave ya wanting. He has always been the first to volunteer to help others. That’s not counting the medical bills. So there is a way that you can give prayers and support to Gary on fb. There is a GoFundMe page where you can send donations- “Gary Lee Hutchison- A Guitar Player in Need”. So dig deep in your pockets and help Gary receive the care needed. Let’s get Gary back on stage and showcase his talents of Live Music.

So, while I had my head in the sand, I completely missed Hillbilly Vegas in England on their “Long Way Back” Tour. Awesome Reviews from music critics, music magazines and exponentially expanding their fan base across the pond and plans are made to go back soon. This tour they even managed to stay healthy and made the 8 date tour with only a problem at the airport on the way home. Nothing like airport food to cause a grumble or two. Here’s hoping that they play a couple of times here at home soon.
Too late , ya just missed a huge Rockabilly Festival in Sweden. Local musician(Spiro), Bob Callaway and the Humdingers played last Sat 3rd at The Big 60’s Weekender. Bob Callaway and the Clicks were a household name with several Top 100 Rockabilly Hits. Europe turned out to be bigger fans of Rockabilly tunes than the U.S. so the Clicks were being played with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee, LiL’ Richard and Elvis on their radio. Can’t wait to hear how it went.

Live Music this week: “The Stagemasters” will be on Garrison Ave./Ft Smith on Thursday 8th at La Huertas. This Country band are favorites at several places in this area so expect a good crowd. Music from 7-10.

Another favorite place to dance, Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center will have a boot scootin’ good time this Friday 9th with “Country Express” Playing the music. They are an awesome dance band so make plans on having a great time. Music from 7-10pm.

“Libby Starks” and her hardworkin’ Band will be at La Huertas/Ft Smith on Friday 9th. She always has a great show. So grab a bite and listen to their sound. Music starts at 7pm. Then, they play at Quapaw Ok. at the Downstream Casino on Sat. 10th.Place your bet and do some boot scooting, too. They kick it off at 8pm.

“The Libby Starkes Band” will head across the State Line and head for Crocky’s/Hackett on Sat. 10th. Let’s hope for cooler weather. Music starts at 6pm.

My Mom(Wanda) and Raymond, her dance partner, will be at their favorite dancehall- Muldrow City Limits. They will feature “Midwestern Playboys”. Awesome band for the dancers and you will see a Waterfall or two on this crowded dance floor. Maybe even a Waltz. It opens at 6pm and the dance starts at 7pm.

Looking ahead“59 South” will be the headliner for a full day of Rock- Country-Red Dirt and everything in between. The Oktoberfest line up will have ten(10) bands and taste of domestic and local Brews. It is family Friendly so make plans to be there.

I’m apologize if I missed a dance or two. What used to take me an hour, took me all day. Please send me a text or tag me on fb your band’s schedule for each month.
