Retirement- Exceptions to the Rules
Public Announcements- Yes, David Deaton, I have retired from making music but I still love to talk about it. AND I still need band schedules as soon as ya can. New Year’s Eve and Christmas party’s have traditionally been looked forward to and are well attended. So git off your lazy and send them to me. Text of fb tag or messenger will work.
Retirement- Way too many exceptions to mention so I’ll just give ya the latest ones. Now in my defense I know several solo acts and several working bands that are still playing 4-20 nights a week. I will mention them later. A couple of recent start-up bands are the focus this time.
“WildHorse” and “Sidekicks” . These seasoned musicians can still bring it and still want to entertain. They are picking their nites and venues. It’s easy to tell that they have been woodshedding(Practicing). They bring good music and a lil’ Class to the stage. Most recently, Dave Love and Floyd Adams(Oklahoma Moon), announced retirement. Vowing not to Ever put another band together. Well, that lasted about a week. I feel like spousal influence played a big part in their playing again. A retired musician underfoot can be nerve-racking. So, “Sidekicks” began to form from their craving to make more music and their wives’ need for peace and quiet.
“Sidekicks”(def. a close companion), like Tonto/Lone Ranger-Dale/Roy-Chester/Mister Dillion-John Wayne, he didn’t need no stinking Sidekick, but ya get the idea. So these close companions quietly formed, practiced and started playing in November. David Love/vocals and drums, Floyd Adams/vocals and bass, Shane Adams/vocals and Keys and Russell McNeely/vocals and guitar bring 3-4 part harmony and back-up vocals to nearly every song. I mean it’s the “Sons of the Pioneers” and “Eagles” kinda Harmony. You will enjoy their Show.
“WildHorse” – Ricky Ward used this name for a band back in the early 90’s? It was a good Country dance band then and it is now. But this version with Ricky, lead guitar/vocals, Rodney Smith/vocals and acoustic, James Zachary/bass and Roland Stevens/drums can fill the dance floor. Le Gains adds steel guitar when possible. Catch this band next at the Sallisaw VFW on Sat.21st. More info next week.
