This simple line in a song that I oft times heard my Grandma say has a couple of meanings. The first is obvious in Oklahoma. We need the Spring rains to bring out the vibrant colors of flawers. But it’s best in the right proportion. 6 inches overnite is a lil’ much. And this Spring has certainly been a stellar kite-flying season, ain’t it?
Second- Showers(change, discomfort, adversity) can lead to Flawers (hope, growth, New Beginings). It’s all up to me to choose. It don’t have to be Month to Month, it can happen day by day or Moment by Moment! Look on the sunny side of Life. Tis all a matter of state of mind and spirit. Speaking of me, I used to imagine that I was Superman/Clark Kent. Super Hero when needed and reporter for the Daily Planet by day. In reality, I am more like Otis from Mayberry or Fred Sanford. Just full of whining and complaining, all the while just needing attention and love. I’m just Pit-E-full most times. Poteau High School Alumni Reunion committee met to start planning the 2025 All Class Reunion. It is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend Sat. August 30th. Music for the dance to be announced soon but will again be special and a fun evening with an awesome meal. More info here and in the upcoming Static.
Live Music this week:”The Al Grezch Trio” will be at the LeFlore Co. Museum in the Lowrey Hotel on Dewey Ave. Downtown Poteau. April 22nd from 6:30-8:30, The music will bring the beautiful hotel Lobby back to life. It has wonderful acoustics, you can hear every note cleanly and clearly. Al Grzech/piano, David Hoffpauir/guitar and Chris Beam/drums will present a broad spectrum of songs. Jazz to contemporary. Donna and David Deaton host a wonderful gathering with a counter full of delicious finger foods. Bring your friends, come early and tour the museum. Wonderful exhibits from several decades to enjoy. “The Sidekicks Band” will take the stage at The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in Muskogee on Thursday 24th at 7pm. It is an honor to be invited to play at this venue. The Museum is also open and display photos and info on the 144 Inductees of musicians/singers/songwriters from the great State of Oklahoma. Band members Floyd Adam, Shane Adams, Russell McNeely and David Love perform Country and Pop tunes that showcase their 3-4 part harmonies and unique arrangements. “The Stagemasters” will play for the Friday 25th dance at the Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center on Cavanaugh Rd. This is an awesome Country, Red Dirt band with some Austin flavored originals thrown in for good measure. They know how to keep the dance floor busty! AND It’s Pot-Luck nite so bring your favorite dish. See ya there.
Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak will have a great meal and some awesome music on Friday 25th. “Big Marty and the Dirty Dogs” play Country and R&R so you and your honey can two-step or do the twist, shake your booty or boogaloo. You decide! Music starts at 6:30.
