You might hear people say they have “spring fever.” It doesn’t mean they are feeling poorly. They are excited and have extra energy thanks to warmer, sunnier weather. It’s like comin’ outta hibernation. Celebrate this season. Spring officially begins in 2023 on Monday the 20th. Monday am, the temp. is 27 so don’t get the shorts out just yet. In Mother Nature’s plan, it will start on Wed. the 22nd with 70 highs and 45* lows. I have mentioned the Easter Freeze of my Grandfathers. It’s a late cold snap often with a frost that could send some gardeners back to the store to replace mater plants.
Spring Fever is an emotion or feeling, NOT an illness. Be very cautious of what I believe can be a mental illness- Spring Cleaning. Not to be confused with a competitive sport in our area- Yard Work. If ya can, get out and enjoy a ride thru the woods where the trees are just starting to show color. Wild plums start, soon followed by Redbuds and Dogwoods. It’s also a sign of crappie fishing and turkey hunting. SE Oklahoma is the very purtiest place on Earth in Spring and Fall. Be careful how many pics that ya post or share of the beauty of our area because it can cause some to move here. Ya know, Texans and Californians. I tell folks that Oklahoma is flat, hot, and full of tumbleweeds, rattlesnakes and cuckleburrs. Anyway, The sun will be due East at Sunrise and due West at Sunset. The days will get a few minutes longer each day until the first day of Fall- Sept. 23rd.
