Michael Brandon Garrett, 54, of Wister, Oklahoma entered into his final rest on May 22, 2026, in his home in Wister, Oklahoma. He was born December 8, 1971, to Clyde Bradford “Brad” Garrett Jr. and Brenda Sue Branson Garrett in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He grew up in Spiro, Oklahoma where he enjoyed playing baseball, football and being in band. He graduated from Spiro High School in 1990. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Carl Albert State College in Poteau, Oklahoma in 1991 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma in 1993. Michael also earned an Oklahoma Real Estate License earlier this year.
He married Tina Nichole “Nikki” Chaplin on May 11, 1991. They were married for 35 years and had three wonderful children. He was a lifetime resident of Leflore County and lived the past 22 years with his family in Wister. He spent his career in Business, working for Brad Fenton Motors in Poteau for 15 years and as owner and operator of Wister Pawn & Gun for the past 17 years. Michael was a man of faith, loving his heavenly Father, his family and others. He loved serving Yahweh and helping people. A big part of that was always being willing to offer a listening ear, giving words of wisdom and encouragement, praying with and for people and offering a helping hand when people were in need.
He loved life. Picking at everyone was the way he loved on them. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals on tv, shooting, fishing, watching his chickens, driving his old red truck and collecting guns and sports cards.
Michael was preceded in death by his dad, Clyde Bradford “Brad” Garrett Jr. and his grandparents, Clyde Bradford Garrett Sr. and Wilma Mina Wells Garrett; Troy Sylvester Branson and Francis (Ellen) Robinson Branson.
He is survived by his wife, Nikki Garrett and daughter, Hope Garrett of the home; sons, Zain Garrett of Poteau and Brock Garrett of Josephine, Texas.
