Ernest “Red” Shadwick of Howe, Oklahoma was born August 14, 1923 in Howe, Oklahoma to William and Bertha (Kelly) Shadwick and passed May 25, 2021 in Howe, Oklahoma at the age of 97.

11 grandchildren:
Scott, Kelli, Billy, Jared, Beth, Robin, BJ, Cody, David, Cyprian, and Tony
Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of many friends
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Linda Streeter; two sons, Earnie and Bobby Joe Shadwick; and one grandson, Jay Shadwick. Ernest was a life-long resident of the Glendale area, and a life-long member of the Mt. View Baptist Church in Glendale. He was a long-time member of the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154, Leflore County Coon Hunters Association, and Peace Officers Association. Ernest was a Navy veteran of WW II and his job was a gunner, an MP while stationed in Hawaii. He was also on the Navy boxing team while in California. He always said there was never a place he had been that was as beautiful as Oklahoma and once he came home from the Navy, he never wanted to live any place else for long. Ernest enjoyed hunting, being out and about with nature and spending time with family and friends. Dad, you will be missed by all that knew and loved you. We will always love you.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Mt. View Baptist Church in the Glendale community with Brother Tim Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery with military honors by the Poteau DAV Chapter #63. Arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday and 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
